Well, maybe I'm too optimistic. Don't know. Midnight commander is not the fastest way to copy files, especially not when you are copying a lot of small files. On the other hand, when copying a lot of small files 100MB/sec is impossible, due to random access times. 100MB/sec is only feasible with big files, and I don't know if in that case the overhead of mc is significant. The real test would be to use 'time cp'. Unfortunately I have no NAS5xx with more than one disk at the moment to test it.
I get 42,5MB/s with time cp of one 7.7GB file between two 4TB WD drives within NAS542.

That's bad. My NSA325 does better.

Code: Alles auswählen

admin@NSA325:/i-data/3a22b091$ time dd if=/dev/zero of=1GB bs=1M count=1k
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.0GB) copied, 20.457738 seconds, 50.1MB/s
real	0m 20.46s
user	0m 0.00s
sys	0m 6.99s
admin@NSA325:/i-data/3a22b091$ time cp 1GB ../7295626c/
real	0m 21.85s
user	0m 0.15s
sys	0m 8.84s
As you can see it hardly matters if only is written, or if read from one disk and written to another one. When I only write on my 520, I get 104MB/sec.

Code: Alles auswählen

admin@NAS520:/i-data/38aa86ff$ time dd if=/dev/zero of=1GB bs=1M count=1k
1024+0 records in
1024+0 records out
1073741824 bytes (1.0GB) copied, 9.844258 seconds, 104.0MB/s
real	0m 9.84s
user	0m 0.00s
sys	0m 8.79s
According to your measurement this is more than halved on read/write. I wonder if it matters in which slots the source and destination disks are located. I don't think the SoC has 4 sata ports, so there will be a sata multiplier. On the 325 both disks have their own sata port, maybe in your setup they haven't.
